2023: Campaign Design Lead on the Witch Queen Campaign


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Established creative and design pillars for new Campaign framework called the "Definitively Destiny" Campaign and rallied Campaign team around framework
  • Key creative driver of holistic campaign experience, critical interface point between narrative, art, and design.
  • Continuous integration and iteration of ongoing systems feature and narrative elements as they came online
  • Key leadership delegate through Critical Focus Area, Expansion Focus Area, and EEEP (Test Focus) Process; drove individual revision work with team akin to strike team initiatives
  • Responsible for aligning 100's of stakeholders and nearly all devgroups across the company on the development of the Witch Queen campaign.
  • Outlined critical narrative beats between the player journey and gameplay design, aligned teams on flow and pacing, and ensured beats were presented to the player at a high quality bar.
  • Mapped player journey and mission lines across destination and worked with design team to plan missions through the Destination.
  • Worked with team to identify, document, cost, and approve all stakeholder dependencies.


    Major IC Contributions:

  • Primary destination map layout designer.
  • Activity Design Owner for Mission Investigation: Themed around being stranded in a dangerous town, the player's first introduction to Savathun's Throneworld destination.
  • Activity Design Owner for Mission Mirror: Themed around espionage behind enemy lines, the player infiltrates a Scorn foothold to acquire an important artifact.
  • Supporting gameplay design for multiple missions developing mechanics and spectacle moments, prototyping, and implementing to support mission designers.
  • Major contributor to traversal world design and traversal challenges/puzzle designs.
  • Key contributor to mechanical flow and implementation of finale mission mirror puzzle, penultimate encounter, and final boss fight in Mission Ritual.
  • Specced, validated, greenlit, frameworked, guided, and implemented new back-of-box feature "Legendary Campaign Difficulty", a higher difficulty version of the main campaign experience with systemic changes to difficulty and mechanical challenge. Sentiment on the Legendary Campaign feature was through the roof on KPIs.
